God I love the beach... I got the opportunity to try yet another new beer called Pilsner Urquell. IMO it was they worst stuff I've ever had. I'd drink Natty Ice over that stuff anyday. It had a strong after taste that wasn't for me.
Another new one I had was Budweiser Select, I really couldn't taste much of a difference from that and regular Budweiser.

IMO Pilsner Urquell is what Bud wishes it could be. Bud pretty much stole their recipe and proceeded to turn it into something that closely resembled Clydesdale urine. Anyway, back to the original point... that aftertaste was a result of Pilsner Urquell being much more heavily hopped than most pilsners, which is a good thing to me. As far as beer goes, hops = flavor... along with malts of course, but the hops are what I prefer. No offense intended of course. People like what they like... I've just never understood how people can drink Bud and say "mmmmmm, that tastes good"

Well Eldiablo was correct the "Chimay Premier Blue" was better than the "RED" although both were very good and most definately had the same yeast and probably most of the same ingrediants, just differnet proportions. I also had Bear Republic "Big Bear Black Stout" which was an very good but not quite as good as the "Stone Russain Imperial Stout" which was excelent. (Gotta love the gargoyle with the commi hat, classic)
I'd also agree that aftertaste is very important to me in a beer, and some of the longest lasting aftertastes you can get are from hop bombs because of all the hop oil that sticks to your palet. Victory "Prima Pils" is my favorite American pilsner because its the most hopped up one I've tried, its a pilsner so its more of a spicey grassy hop than a bitter one, but still strong on the aftertaste.

Chimay Red and Blue are very different beers so it's always possible that some will like the style of Red more than Blue, but most people I've talked to see the Blue as the superior Chimay. That's not to say the Red is bad, it's just how good the Blue is. Having said that, now you need to try the White... lol

The genny website says- 1972 a genny cream ale delivery truck is hijacked on a rural country road in upstate new york. The truck and its driver were found safe. The load of cream ale was nowhere to be seen. LOL does it say where in Upstate NY ??? I was only like 11 years old though LOL !!! We would wait till the trucks would stop at a store and the guy was bringing in a bunch of cases, they never use to close the truck up 35 years ago,off we were with a few cases every time lol !!!!! I was wondering if it said anything about where as well... rural country road doesn't exactly narrow it down... lol

I don't know why I remember this, but it is ringing a bell. That might have been the UC heist back in the day though.

Also, I can concur with Jordoo on the Stone Russian Imperial. It was great. Strong hit, good finish, smooth as a stout all around, and not too light on the palate. Tried some Moose's Tooth IPA when I was in Anchorage. Was a good mid range IPA, nothing to be too excited about but if you're up here and see it on tap check it out.

I'll concur on the Stone Russian Imperial as well... granted, I have yet to have an even remotely bad beer from Stone, so I'm probably a little biased

Yep Stone makes great stuff, but compared to othe RIS's that I've had theirs really stood out. I do however have a 4 pack of North Coast Old Rasputin RIP that I have yet to get a taste of.

ST. Bernardus Apt 12 (quad): Ok I drank a 750ml bottle of this last night and not only was the beer excellent but I had a wonderous almost magical buzz off this stuff. My mind was very clear yet my body had an inside out out limb tingling marshmelo feel. These monks are seriously onto something!
