For those of us out of town is there anything you CRAVE or MUST have when you are in town??
Ill start:
Dinasour BBQ Columbus Bakery Bread Hoffmans Hot Dogs Gianelli Hot Sausage Varsity Pizza
Every time I leave, I have a cooler for some hot dogs and sausage and a bag full of Dino BBQ Sauce and some NYS Fair Speedie Sauce, so I can whip up some hometown food from afar.

Not a Syracuse native but I did spend 2 1/2 years on the Hill in the 80's. Stopping at Danzer's for a Saurbrauten sandwich and either a Kahlua parfait or a hot coffee libation involving whiskey, Kahlua, chocolate syrup and/or whip cream is a MUST when I'm up for a hoops game! ;D

I mainly stock up on Hoffmans. I'm an Oswego native so the other thing I get when in the area is a few pounds of each the hot and mild Garafalos Italian Sausage and a couple loves of there bread as well since the bakeries suck around here. Dinasour BBQ is also of course a must stop!!

State Fair Speedies sause is always on my Christmas list. I also rarely visit without getting some Zebb's Original wings.

I'm from up in Jefferson County, but a lot of what's been mentioned is on my list as well... my sister lives in Liverpool so I generally don't need to go too far out of my way to get it...
For stuff from "up north" Croghan Bologna is an absolute must... and a trip over to Sackets Harbor for some SHBC War of 1812 Ale

I think I am coming out of my 2 day hiatis and trying some of the Troeg's Nugget Necture or possibly some Chimay Premeire (red) that I scored last night.

Croghan Bologna is like crack, you eat a slice and the ring ends up missing in about 6 minutes...
There used to be a place in Lowville that had a hard salami that was downright amazing as well.

The Cosmos THB always did it for me. Years ago there was a place we used to run to to handle our late night minchies called The All Night Egg Plant, doubt it's still there, but maybe... I almost looked it up on a visit a vouple of years ago when I was doing the college visit thing with my son, but we were exhausted so I passed.
I lived in Stracuse the first few years after college, my favorite restaurant in the area is The Krebs in Skaneateles. Usually out of my range when I was a college kid, but once I was working I was able to go there for a nice night out. Closer to the campus I always liked Phobe's Cafe.

Chimay Red is probably my least favorite of all the Chimay brews, but it's still phenomenal... not sure I've ever heard of Troeg's, where are they located?

Troegs is out of Harrisburg. Very popular around here. There whole line up is very good with some really excellent beers as well.
As far as teh Chimay I almost purchased the Blue but not knowing a whole lot about either I just pretty much for no real reason decided on the red. I have head that Chimay was really good but hadn't heard really any more than that.

I would highly recommend trying all of them at some point

I'm heading home next weekend to raft the Black River, I'm going to have to pick some up while I'm there... especially after this thread I think I know the place in Lowville you're talking about, but I haven't been over there in years so I have no idea if it's still there or not
